Political Psychology, which is one of the rapidly developing areas of scientific research and practice in the world over the last thirty- forty years, is an important scientific field of study that analyzes in depth the psychological factors playing a role in the relationship between large groups and nations.
Leaders and followers, leaders and large group associations, terrorism and terrorism psychology, and the psychodynamics of social movements are the main areas of investigation in Political Psychology.
The development of Political Psychology is the result of its contributions to international negotiations that opened up international relations blocking diplomacy and to the positive results of relations with peaceful solutions.
The approach of Political Psychology to problems is based on the principles of analytical psychology with eclectic and integrative understanding. For this reason, the motivations identified by the underlying, in-depth study, rather than the superficial evaluation of attitudes and behaviors in national and international relations and apparent psychological problems, cover the field of political psychology.
The studies officially started in 1992 within the Turkish Prime Ministry in order to prevent and utilize our country from the discipline of political psychology which gave a new perspective to diplomacy and politics in peace-threatening problems that may arise among different groups continued to function under the roof of the association with the establishment of the Political Psychology Association in 2006. At the beginning of 2011, the Political Psychology Application and Research Center was established at Ankara University.
